Removing Render Cache TTL Setting

  • We’re removing the Render Cache TTL field from the Source configuration settings. We’ve been improving our caching infrastructure, and as a result this value is less useful and can actually cause unnecessary requests. Our team will be fine-tuning TTL values in our various caching layers, which will allow us to deliver an improved quality of service and result in less ingestion of duplicate data. New fillmax Fit Mode

  • Added a new fillmax mode to the fit parameter, which resizes the image to fill the width and height boundaries without cropping or distorting the image, and fills the remaining space with a solid color. It will not increase the size of the image if it is smaller than the output size. This mode is a combination of fit=fill and fit=max. See the docs

Open Source

  • Released Drift 0.3.3 and 0.3.4. The loading indicator is now hidden after the image finishes loading (for images with transparency), and the base CSS has been improved to work more seamlessly with existing CSS codebases.
  • Released Luminous 0.3.1 and 0.3.2. The loading indicator is now hidden after the large image finishes loading (for images with transparency), and a bug with empty Firefox captions displaying null was fixed.
  • Released ember-cli-imgix 0.3.6 and 0.3.7. These changes fix some deprecations in newer versions of Ember.

Expanded Color Palette Extraction

  • Added a second set of colors to the output of the palette parameter. Along with the default palette, it now provides a [Vibrant.js]()-style set of colors that are based on dominance in the image but provide a more coordinated palette. See the documentation for details.

Client Libraries & Developer Tools

  • Released imgix.js 3.0.2, fixing a bug in older browsers without the window.devicePixelRatio property.
  • Released Drift 0.3.1 and 0.3.2, which added Safari 8 support, and fixed bounding box positioning in IE 11.
  • Released imgix-rails 2.1.1, which fixed a bug that passed the widths option through to generated HTML elements.

  • Release new client library for Swift and Objective-C projects. This replaces our previous Swift and Objective-C libraries. See it on GitHub.

Update to SVG Pass-through

  • We've modified our SVG pass-through to require proper encoding per the W3C spec. SVG files that don't conform to the spec will returned as Content-Type:text/plain.
